If you start now, you can get to max level and make some gold of do some P1 and P2 content until P4 hits. Then you can get geared for Sunwell by the time it releases. It’s a great time to start. Even if you don't care about mythic raiding, it's best to choose a realm that's very populous for your chosen faction unless you're joining a friend who's on a different sort of realm.
